Creating a plot “.plt” file in AutoCAD

31 08 2007

1. While in your drawing, click on the “Plot” button to bring up the plot
screen
2. In the plot device tab, select a HPGL/2 plotter. If one is not available,
you need to install an HPGL/2 plotter in AutoCAD. (The HP750Cplus is
a common plotter and the drivers are included in AutoCAD)
3. You will need to set your page settings in the Plot Settings tab
4. Select the appropriate page size, and make sure your pen tables (if
applicable) have been loaded as monochrome
5. Check to make sure your scale has been set, and that your drawing
fits on the page the way you want it to, by doing a “full preview”
6. In the plot device tab, you will need to select the “Plot to file”
checkbox and make sure you will be writing the file to the appropriate
directory
7. Give the file a name and click the “0K” button. This process will
generate a file with a “.plt” file extension

Microsoft Word – Preserve original appearance for viewing or printing

31 08 2007

word
Microsoft Word provides several options for creating “portable” documents — that is, documents that always keep their original
appearance no matter which computer or printer you use to view or print them.

Do any of the following:

Preserve a document’s original layout and page breaks
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Compatibility tab.
2. In the Options box, clear the Use printer metrics to lay out document check box.

Note The Use printer metrics to lay out document option affects only the way the document is displayed while you work with it
in Word; it doesn’t permanently change the document. If you want to restore the document’s original layout, you can select this option
again.
